Scientists at the 91视频 Department Laboratory for Functional Materials created mono domain crystals of Potassium Titanyl Arsenate KTiOAsO4 (KTA). This was the first time scientists in Russia were able to achieve this. These nonlinear optical crystals are used to convert laser radiation in the visible mid infrared range in optical parametric oscillators (ODO). The ferroelectric properties and high homogeneity of the crystals made it possible to use them as the basis to create periodic structures that significantly increase the conversion efficiency of laser radiation in the spectral range up to 5 micrometers.
The conference 鈥淪pain and Russia: The History and Today鈥 was organized and conducted by the Center for Spanish Language and Culture at the NSU Humanities Institute. The main objectives of the event were to strengthen ties between the two countries and to promote the Spanish language and culture. Presentations by guests and NSU students were given in Spanish with simultaneous translation.

During the summer and autumn of 2018, archaeologists from the NSU Humanities Research Laboratory studied the Tesinsky Gulf-3 burial site. It is located on the left bank of the Yenisei River (now the Krasnoyarsk Reservoir), in the Bogradsky District in the Republic of Khakassia. This is one of the largest burial grounds of the Tashtyk culture that existed on the territory of the Minusinsk Basin from II CE - VII century BCE. The burial ground consists of more than 80 graves, with surface markers of various sizes. Although discovered during an expedition several years ago, it was not until 2017 that NSU archaeologists began excavation of the site. In 2018, work was resumed in collaboration with students from the NSU Department of Geology and Geophysics and two other Siberian universities.
Boris Nyushkov, Sergey Kobtsev and Arkady Yakovlev, scientists at the NSU Laser Physics and Innovation Technologies Division (LPITD), and their colleagues at the Institute of Laser Physics SB RAS published an article in the English IOP Publishing house鈥檚 leading journal 鈥淟aser Physics Letters鈥. Their article was in the Journal鈥檚 Top 3 in the 鈥淔iber Optics and Fiber Lasers鈥 category in 2017.

The RSCI database is a Russian project based on RSCI public platform material. RSCI is integrated with the international Web of Science (WoS) citation database, so publications included in RSCI are automatically included in WoS. In 2018 RSCI recognized 773 Russian scientific journals in all RSCI subject areas (overall, there are about 5,000 journals).
On September 11, 2018, Comet 21P / Giacobini-Zinner passed the Earth鈥檚 orbit point closest to the Sun and was at a relatively short distance from the planet (58.6 million km). This caused the comet to reach a seven star magnitude of brightness, which meant it was almost observable by the naked eye. Most comets that can be observed with the naked eye are not in the visible part of the sky. However, some comets can be observed with a slight magnification. The Comet 21P / Giacobini-Zinner is notably visible with telescopes and binoculars, and has become a good subject to photograph. Mikhail Maslov, a leading engineer at the NSU Observatory, was able to capture it.
