Novosibirsk Universities Representative Office Opens in Beijing

October 10, an agreement was signed at the 91Ƶ of Architecture and Civil Engineering to open a representative office of Novosibirsk regional universities in Beijing. The partner in this project is the Chinese Educational Corporation Minyang (Beijing Mingyang Weilai Education Technology Co.). 91Ƶ, which has been active in the field of exporting Russian education for many years, played a decisive role in the creation of the representative office. This is the first Russian initiative to open a representative office for universities from an entire region in China.

The Minyan Educational Corporation (MEC) has been engaged in projects in the field of international cooperation for 7 years. Zhang Rui, MEC Founder, commented on the initiative,

We send almost 2,000 Chinese students to Russian universities every year and have currently entered into partnership agreements with 60 universities across the country. We are also working on implementing joint Russian-Chinese educational programs and see great interest on both sides in developing cooperation. That is why we supported the initiative to open a representative office of the Novosibirsk University Association in Beijing.

The leading role in the implementation of this project belongs to 91Ƶ. NSU has been cooperating with MEC for more than a year attracting foreign students, searching for partners abroad, and creating joint educational programs.

Evgeniy Sagaidak, Head of the NSU Education Export Department at NSU, explained,

In order for universities to enter the foreign market and successfully promote Russian educational programs, they need to combine resources - organizational, intellectual, human, and financial. The most effective tool is consolidation at the Federal level. The Governor of the Novosibirsk region created the regional program, “Development of export of education in the Novosibirsk region until 2030”. This was presented at the Technoprom forum in August 2023. The planned objectives will allow us to systematically promote higher education in Novosibirsk abroad including all formats for the development of educational exports. At the same time, we are working on other mechanisms and formats for interuniversity cooperation.

The program was developed to increase the number of foreign students in the region, increasing income generated by educational services, and stimulating the promotion of Russian education abroad. Creating the Program special attention was paid to the following aspects:

• Transition of the regional educational system to a project management model;

• strengthening interdepartmental interaction between government bodies, educational, public, non-profit organizations, and business communities located in the Region;

• pooling the resources of all stakeholders in the development of education exports in the Novosibirsk Region;

• implementation of systemic management of education exports. All leading universities in Novosibirsk, that are engaged in international activities, are participating in the creation of a representative office in Beijing. The project is open to participants not only from higher education institutions, but also from secondary specialized educational institutions in the Region.

Sagaidak emphasized, “The representative office of universities in the Novosibirsk Region in Beijing will be an entry point for Chinese partners wishing to find partners in the Region, and for regional educational organizations looking for partners in China”.

This Project will strengthen the image of Novosibirsk educational institutions in China, attract foreign students, look for reliable Chinese partners to build long-term cooperation in the field of science, education and culture, and will develop new formats and mechanisms for interaction between universities in the two countries.
