NSU Earth Sciences Journal Joins GeoScienceWorld System

In October, the English-language version of NSU鈥檚 Russian Geology and Geophysics (RGG) journal was added to GeoScienceWorld (GSW), the leading collection of scientific journals on earth sciences. The GSW Internet resource will now distribute the electronic version of the Journal along with other top-rated international publications. This will make RGG more available to the world鈥檚 geological elite.

NSU Researchers Study How Proteins Collide with DNA

Researchers at the NSU Natural Sciences Department鈥檚 Laboratory of Protein Engineering studied what happens when moving DNA polymerases, the proteins that copy genetic information, collide with other proteins that are tightly attached to DNA. The results of their work were published in the Swiss journal 鈥淕enes鈥.

NSU Students Develop Application for Registering Classroom Attendance

NSU Mechanics and Mathematics Department Freshmen, Mikhail Tyutulnikov and Konstantin Nosorev, have developed an application that will automate the registration of student classroom attendance. Using a mobile device with an NFC module, the application is connected to student ID cards. The teacher installs the application that will respond to the touch of the student ID and send a list of those present to the teacher鈥檚 personal account on a website.

SESC NSU Participates in International Mathematical Modeling Competition

An SESC team participated in the international stage of the International Mathematical Modeling Challenge (IMMC) for high school children. Two teams from Russia were among the 53 teams with representatives from 30 countries taking part in the traditionally remote competition.

2020-2021 Open Doors International Olympiad Registration Continues

The winners of the Olympiad will be admitted to the University tuition free and without exams. Finalists will be eligible for a 20% discount on tuition for their chosen Master's Program.

NSU Graduate Develops Module Evaluating Quantum Platforms for Blockchain Mining Algorithms

Artem Grigorovich, a graduate of NSU鈥檚 Department of Information Technologies, developed a performance evaluation module that supports the launch of test algorithms used in blockchain technology on several quantum platforms simultaneously. This will help developers track the progress of existing quantum platforms and use the most productive to solve blockchain mining problems.

SESC NSU Students Win Bronze at International Tournament of Young Physicists

SESC NSU 8th and 11th grade students, Nikita Sharov and Olesya Karpenko, won bronze medals as part of the 33rd International Tournament of Young Physicists (O-IYPT 2020) Russian national team.

SESC NSU Student Wins 鈥淕old鈥 at International Chemistry Olympiad

The 54th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad for high school students took place in mid-July. Hosted by the Lomonosov Moscow State University Chemistry Department, it was the first to be held remotely with 130 students from 27 CIS countries, the Baltic States and South-Eastern Europe, participating. Stepan Epifantsev, a 10th grade student at SESC NSU, was a gold medalist.

Novosibirsk Scientists Developing Coronavirus Treatment

NSU Professor Sergei Nikonov, Head of the Laboratory for Biomedical Applications of Quantum Materials, Devices, and Systems, proposed a fundamentally new concept for inactivation of viral pathogens using photodynamic therapy (PDT).
