First Stage New NSU Campus Building Receives Heat in November

Work on the installation of a thermal circuit is being completed for buildings that are part of the first stage of the new NSU campus. The buildings include a new academic building, the recreational center of the NSU Scientific Research Center, and two new student dormitories for 690 students. Heat will be provided by mid-November.

Connection to the heat supply will make it possible to continue work on the interior decoration during the winter cold. In addition, storm sewer work is currently underway on Pirogova Street where the University and new facilities under construction are located. This will also be completed by mid-November.

The construction of a world-class NSU campus is happening within the framework of the national project “Science and Universities” National Project. Construction of the first and second phase facilities is currently underway.

Mikhail Fedoruk, 91Ƶ Rector, noted,

The new NSU campus will create a modern infrastructure not only for educational, but for research activities. Among the key programs that will be implemented on the new campus are those dedicated to artificial intelligence and big data processing, biotechnology, synchrotron-neutron research, photonics and sensors, new functional materials, and space instrumentation. The University is already working closely in all these areas with leading SB RAS research institutes. This modern campus infrastructure will open up additional opportunities for significant advancement in these spheres.

The first stage facilities are more than 50% completed. Roofing and finishing work, installation of internal walls, elevator equipment, and internal engineering systems are ongoing, as well as work on the installation of facades and metal structures. The total area of the facilities being built within the first phase exceeds 37 thousand sq.m. The construction of these buildings is supported by a private donor. They are expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2024.

At the second stage sites of the campus, preparatory work is underway for the construction of a research center, as well as the installation of vertical structures for the underground portion of the Institute of Medicine and Psychology Educational and Scientific Center. The second stage facilities are being built with funds from the Federal targeted investment program and should be ready by the third quarter of 2025.
